Centre imposes ban on Condom ads on TV

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said condom advertisements will now be allowed only between 10 pm and 6 am to avoid exposing children to such material and to comply with government rules.
The government has ordered television channels not to air condom advertisements before 10pm and after 6am, a decision prompted by complaints of explicit content in such ads.
The ministry warned that any channel found flouting the order will face action in accordance with provisions in the cable television networks rules.
In an advisory issued, the I-B ministry said, “Indecent, vulgar, suggestive, repulsive or offensive themes or treatment shall be avoided in all advertisement.”
