Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the clear winner in almost all opinion polls conducted before Gujarat Assembly elections 2017. However, most of these surveys suggest that BJP will win, but by a smaller margin as compared to 2012. Touted to be the semi-final before 2019 general elections, assembly elections in Gujarat will be held in two phases on December 9 and 14.
The India TV opinion poll predicts that the BJP will get between 106 and 116 seats, the upper end of which range will mean the party equalling its tally last time. The Times Now survey shows the BJP getting 111 seats while the ABP-CSDS opinion poll predicts the lowest tally for Gujarat’s ruling party at between 91 and 99 seats.
However, with 64 percent votes, PM Modi still remained the most popular leader in the state, as per the survey.
The Gujarat Assembly election is scheduled to be held on 9 and 14 December 2017.
