On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its final and the sixth list of the candidates for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017. In the sixth list released by the party, the BJP Central Election Committee named 34 candidates out which 12 belong to the Patidar community. Apart from the candidates for 34 constituencies, the sixth list the BJP also includes candidates from Gandhinagar North and South seats. As per the norms set up by the Election Commission (EC), November 27, is the last date for filling the nominations for the second phase of the Gujarat assembly elections.
The BJP’s final list of candidates released on Monday finally did not have the name of former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.Ms Patel’s name was doing the round for Ghatlodia constituency in Ahmedabad – from where the saffron party has decided to field Bhupendrabhai Patel. With Monday’s list of 34 candidates, the BJP has named all candidates for the 182-member Gujarat assembly elections to be held in two phases on December 9 and December 14.
With the last list being released, BJP has fielded all its candidates for 182 seats in Gujarat assembly. Before this, the first list released by the party had 70 names, the second list had 36 names while the third list had 28 names. The fourth list had one name while the fifth had 13 names. The voting for the first phase of Gujarat’s 182 seats will be taking place on December 9 and the second phase will be taking place on December 14. The counting of the votes will be taking place on December 18. The results of Gujarat will be declared along with the results of Himachal Pradesh Assembly election 2017.
