Aizawl FC has fast proved to be a commendable side who have surprised the major clubs and are the defending I League champions face Calcutta Giants Mohun Bagan in a return leg fixture of 12th I-League at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl on Saturday.
Aizawl stands at 7th position on the League table whereas Mohun Bagan stands at 6th position.
This being the closing stages of the league, each are desperate to finish higher up the table.
Aizawl and Mohun Bagan are at 14 and 23 points from 15 and 16 games respectively.
Aizawl go into this match as the favourites having just defeated Minerva Punjab.
Mohun Bagan look formidable enough. Their attack will be led by Cameroon striker Dipanda Dicka who has 7 goals in his kitty till now. Henry Kisekka and seasoned player Sony Norde comprise the rest of the attack.
The previous leg had ended in Calcutta with a 2-2 draw between the two teams but both are looking forward to score a decisive win this time.
Stanley Rozario seemed to be believe so :
“After I got the charge of the team, there were a few transformations and we had different results in the past three matches and they were all big matches.”
Aizawl FC have had a good 15 days rest as their last match against Gokulam Kerala FC was postponed when the Kozhikode club got stuck in Srinagar due to heavy snowfall, post their game against Real Kashmir FC. This might prove an advantage ain addition to them playing on their home turf.
