West Bengal Government once again can start the pass-fail system to schools. The Education Minister of the state has announced yesterday in the assembly. Though the procedure will get confirmation only after the decision of the CM Mamata Banerjee.
The state Government is in favour of promoting the students to the next class on the basis of their performance in class. The Government will soon announce from which class and year the pass fail system will return.
Right now as per the RTE 2009 act, no government or government aided school can stop the promotion of students to a higher class even if they don’t qualify in the exam. Education ministry are reconsidering the act for amendment.
The Education Ministry of India has decided to engage Board Exams for the class five and eight. Not only West Bengal, another 17 states are also willing to return the pass-fail system in the upper primary section.
