On the eve of the recently concluded International fervour Surrounding International Women’s Day, ‘Meer Foundation ‘ found yet another way to serve society though upliftment of the ones left behind through tragedies of fate and trauma inflicted upon the oppressed sections.

It dedicated the entire month towards arranging Corrective surgeries for acid and burns attack survivors- 50 of these in total. This is part of their ‘ToGETher Transformed ‘ initiative.
The surgeries took place in BLK Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi and G.S. Memorial Plastic Surgery Hospital and Trauma Center in Varanasi from 5th March, 201.

The moment of recognition was the initiative through the which the survivors got to meet and interact with Shah Rukh Khan who is undeniably one of the most influential figures in modern day India.

Post the interaction, Shah Rukh , who vowed to keep track of each individual’s progress through the doctors posted :
“The main idea is to believe the fact that you will do something for yourself. If you have the intent everything else will follow. For everyone of us, it’s important to ensure we work for ourselves. We should do our own work without depending on anyone else. Even if it’s a small job we should do it to fend for ourselves. And at the end of the day, we must be independent”.

Shah Rukh spent time interacting with the survivors, exchanging notes of positivity and encouragement.

Capturing moments of the interaction,Mer Foundation later tweeted :
“The interaction between @iamsrk & acid attack survivors was spent instilling hope, courage and discussing possibilities, together. The surgeries, sponsored by #MeerFoundation, will give survivors a chance to restore their dreams. #ToGETherTransformed”.
