Interpol President Missing ; the news kept under radar

Meng Hongwei, the Interpol president is apparently missing for 10 days.
After being reported missing by his wife, the French police have now started an Investigation.

The President who lives in Lyon with his wife and kids was reported missing since the time he landed in his native China.The Interpol spokeswoman has refused to comment on what sort of an official trip this china visit was.

Meng was formerly China’s deputy minister of public security, a position which critics said gave him control over the country’s secret police. He had also served as director of the coastguard and deputy head of the Chinese state oceanic administration.
He is a senior Communist Party official in China.

Meng is also the first Chinese head of Interpol who was elected in 2016 and replaced Mireille Ballestrazzi who was due to serve till 2020.

Meng was last seen leaving for China from Interpol’s headquarters on 29 September.

The disappearance of high ranking Chinese Officials since Xi Jinping took power is becoming a regular phenomenon and is also affecting Chinese Elites, human rights activists, Lawyers and even celebrities.
Fan Bingbing continues to be missing.
