Under the coaching of Rahul Dravid India beat Pak by 203 runs in U-19 WC semifinal. Now they will be playing the final against Aus to bag the trophy once again. Shubhman Gill bat a classy unbeaten 102 off 94 balls.
After winning the toss, India elected to bat first but lost two wickets early. Then Gill took over the match. By developing a 50 runs partnership with Harvik Desai and Anukul Roy each, he took India to a safe score of 272. His unbeaten 102 is the highest score by any Indian player in this tournament.
With a great spell by Ishan Porel, who took 4 wickets by providing 17 runs only in 6 overs, the Indian team has been able to bowl out Pakistan within 69 runs. This is India’s biggest win against Pakistan at the age group level.
This is the sixth time when India reached the final in this age group. Before this India have won the tournament in 2000, 2008, 2012 under the captaincy of Md Kaif, Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand respectively.
Skipper Prithwi Shaw congratulated the team after the match, “It was an outstanding performance from the bowlers as well as the batsmen. I am very satisfied with the performance. I am expecting an exciting contest against Australia in the final. I would also like to thank the crowd for their support”.
