Giving birth to sextuplets is extremely rare. So rare that it carries a 1 in 4.7 million odds against it.
Any more than twins is only brought on by extensive hormonal therapy which is common in women of higher gestational age who need it to become pregnant.
A Houston woman beat the odds to give birth to 6 babies in under 9 minutes and set a new world record. The delivery took place at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas in the United States.
The babies were born under stable conditions and are being treated at the hospita’s Advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This feat took place between 4:50 a.m. and 4:59 a.m. local time last Friday.
The sextuplets consist of two sets of twin boys and one set of twin girls. The mother’s name is Thelma Chiaka. The daughters have already been named Zelma and Zuriel whilst teh boys await theirs.
