‘Haal Chitra, Chal Chitra’ of Bidhan Sangha

‘Whom you are?’ That was the topic of the duel between the theme makers and the organizers of the renowned Durga puja festivals of Kolkata.

Organizing the Durga Puja festival, is a more corporate thing than a ritualistic celebration nowadays, developing the strategy, celebrity touch, innovation, budget, marketing, prize, publicity in every aspect of it.

As a part of their Golden Jubilee celebration, Ultodanga Bidhan Sangha had organized the debate on 25th November 2017 at the BIdhan Sangha Maidan. The puja organizers of not only Kolkata but also from the rest of Bengal was looking forward to the result as it was expected to be the future of the Durga Puja organization. It was supposed that the future of the Puja organizing lied in that discussion.

This debate was hosted by Shrimanta Chaudhuri and Sanchayan Mishra. The heavyweight theme makers like Sanatan Dinda, Sushanta Pal, Bhabotosh Sutar, Subrata Banerjee, Anirban Das, Shibsankar Das and the organizers which includes the names like Nirmal Banerjee from Rajdanga Naboday Sangha, Sandipan Banerjee from Behala Nutan Dal, Shaswata Bose from Hatibagan Sarbojonin, Pratik Choudhuri from Dumdum Park Bharat Chakra, Somnath Das from Santoshpur Lake Pally & Abhishek Bhattacharya from Tala Baroari joined the conversation. They are like the Messis and Ronaldos in theme developing. Sometimes the debate was intending to be an argument, but overall it went pretty handsome.

Though many allegations were been thrown at each other both the groups accepted that the Puja organizations need both of them, otherwise it would be a mess. At the end of the debate, they pledged about keeping the harmony and to make the Puja even more successful in coming years. Nitish Saha, The Chairperson and Partha Ghosh, the President of the Forum for Durgotsava have been felicitated by the Bidhan Sangha members. Sadhan Pande, MLA was present at the ceremony.
