FIR against 3 writers in school book on Gujarat riots

The police has registered a case in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about the Gujarat riots in the book in the school course in Assam. In this case FIR has been registered against the three writers of the book.

This book of political science is taught to the 12th class students who have been written in Assamese language. This book has been going on since 2011, which has written on page 376 that in 2002 when the riots were taking place in Gujarat, the godman of the Sabarmati Express was set on fire at Godhra Station, in which 57 people were killed, then the then CM Narendra Modi was silent.

This book is written by three people, including Durga Kanta Sharma, Rafiq Jamman and Manas Pritim Baruah. However, Durga Kanta Sharma died a few years ago.

Against the words written on the role of CM Modi in this book, Soumitra Goswami and Manav Jyoti Bora have lodged an FIR. The people lodged FIR have alleged that the writer and publisher Assam Book Depot has done misleading the students by giving false information on the Godhra riots. They have demanded a ban on circulation of the book.
