The Cricket Club of  India decided to show its solidarity with the fallen soldiers at Pulwama by covering up the portraits of legend Imran Khan that adorns its gallowed hallways.  This, in keeping with the nation wide sombre mood and cry for revenge in the aftermath of the deadly attack on the CRPF convoy that led to the death of at least 40 and left numerous grievously injured from the ranks of the 2547 CRPF personnel  who comprised the doomed convoy.

The CCI premmises and its restaurant adorn portraits of the Pakistani legend who also now sits supreme in the political hedgemmony of Pakistan as the newly elected Prime Minister of the nation that has always been at loggerheads with its neighbour India over matters of insurgents , especially in the war strifed region of Kashmir.

“See, CCI is a sports-club and we have photographs of past and present cricketers from all countries. We wanted to show, in our way – displeasure – on whatever is happening right now. It is mark of protest. We have covered it as of now but can’t say right now if we would take it down.”

Premal Udani, CCI President.

Imran Khan is one of the most coveted Cricketers of the 70’s who rose through the ranks of Pakistan’s complex political world as the Supremo of the Tehreek-e-Insaaf party that reverberated with te youth of the country riding on an anti-corruption modum.
