Observing the possibility of bullet trains especially in India, South Korea is keen to invest in Narendra Modi’s country in future. Although Japan was initially in charge of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, Seoul is now desperate to take over the next bullet train project. The talks with Delhi will begin soon, said the government’s officials. Currently, the world’s bullet train market is mainly in Japan and China. India has chosen Japan to run the Mumbai-Ahmedabad train. Apart from the Prime Minister’s State, the center wants to run a bullet or high-speed train on at least five routes. Naturally, South Korea wants to catch the Indian market after realizing the huge potential for this country’s railways.
Currently, the technology of running bullet trains in South Korea alone is in the hands of the Hyundai Rotor Association. They are able to drive trains at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. At present, the company has the experience of running trains between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur besides Turkey. After the Mumbai-Ahmedabad in India, the railway ministry has set a fair amount of time to run a bullet train on Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai routes.
According to the Hyundai agency, for the last two decades, they have been doing business in India. The company’s director (Overseas Sales), Joewenhun Kim said. In his words, “we are much more informed about the society, economy and the attitude of the people along with the Indian market.” South Korea has already got the tender to invest in the road sector in developing Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway. This time their goal is to run high-speed rail in this country.
