The incident took place in Tappal town in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh. According to reports, the girl’s body was found on June 2 in a dumping ground near her house, three days after she went missing.
In a gut-wrenching incident, a two-and-a-half year old girl was strangled to death and her eyes gouged out after her parents reportedly failed to repay a loan of Rs 10,000.
Reportedly, the mutilated body was discovered after a pack of stray dogs had been spotted carrying what appeared to be human body parts. According to the police, the two accused, identified as Zahid and Aslam, were neighbours of the victim.
The postmortem report revealed that the little girl had been strangled to death and her eyes had been gouged out.
Following the incident, police, suspecting the youth to be behind the killing, picked him up for questioning. During interrogation, the youth admitted that he had, with the help of an accomplice, killed the girl as her parents had failed to repay the loan.
“I had been asking them to repay the loan. They kept assuring that they would soon pay it but did not honour their promise,” the youth was quoted as having told police.
Both the accused have been arrested. “We plan to slap the stringent National Security Act (NSA) on the duo. The trial will be conducted in a fast-track court,” said a police official in Aligarh.
